Rebuilt SS Conversion Porn…

15 05 2011

I know it seems a bit self-serving to show off like this, but I’m so proud of this bike, which I rebuilt and converted to a single speed last month, that I just had to show it to you. I really hated to sell this bike. I wanted to keep it for myself.

It’s an all steel Centurion Le Mans RS, with a real classic look and feel. The gearing was perfect for the rolling hills around Denver and the feel was delicious. Smooth, swift, and silent, the new owner is going to love riding it for years to come.

The only thing I could have done to improve the look would have been to add white tires. They were just too impractical for me to do it, though.

Love the white handlebar tape and saddle.

Once I snugged up the chain, it was perfect. I think the white chain added some real class to the bike, and really made it “Pop.”

Even these pix don’t really do it justice. It was truly beautiful in person or, as the new owner said upon first sight, “It’s so pretty.”

2011 Bianchi Oltre…

29 04 2011

Here are the two newest, top-of-the-line road bikes from Bianchi, The Oltre Super Record and the Oltre Dura Ace (for those on a budget).

Bianchi Oltre Super Record…$10,999.
Bianchi Oltre Dura Ace…$8,999.

My dreams of the ultimate road bike do not reach quite this far, but they sure are fun to look at.

Cube AMS Super Race--FS

Having spent a week-and-a-half immersed in the world of Euro bikes, writing content for a new UK bike website, I found some beautiful new models to share with you. I’ve even come to appreciate some of the mountain bikes they build over there; including a couple of full suspension bikes.

I usually don’t like to even look at FS bikes. They tend to make me think of UFO’s, what with the way the rear triangle is connected to the frame–or barely so. But, I discovered a couple of really cool bikes during my research and thought I’d bring them to you here.

And, last but not least, a gorgeous road bike from Danish builder Cube…

Bike Porn–My Porn…

4 10 2010

Here is my newest ride…

Fuji Newest 1.0

Just picked this baby up today. She’s light, she’s quick, she’s fast, she’s beautiful, and…she’s ALL MINE!!!

Even sitting still, she just looks like she’s ready TO GO…

Damn, but she’s sexy…

I have multiple riding positions available with an adjustable stem, which allows for a more upright riding position. I also have plenty of stopping power, and convenience in braking, with the added top-mount brake levers.

For those of you who don’t know, road bikes can be VERY expensive. The Fuji Newest series of bike however, are a great value. They pack a lot of performance into a sub-$1000 bike.

After Saturday’s group ride, when I got my ass handed to me on the climbs, as I rode my 40-year-old, 12 speed, steel frame Raleigh, I figured it was time to upgrade to something a little more contemporary. As for this Saturday, all those 30-something weekend warriors on their $3000 carbon bikes had better beware; this week, instead of handing me my ass, they’re gonna be trying to catch this old man’s ass.
